The three-wheeler vehicle can be propelled without touching foot to the ground

Trikke is a three-wheel vehicle, best described by auto experts as a “carving machine” — one that allows you to move forward using curved motion. The vehicle’s one-of-a-kind technology, called the 3CV, allows the rider to propel the chain-less, pedal-less device, which moves forward without touching foot to the ground.

The stable three-point platform leans into the turn with the rider, while all three wheels remain in contact with the ground.
Trikke is available in both manual and electric versions, where the latter can reach a speed of up to 30 kilometres per hour on flat ground and ride 80 kilometres in one charge and even climb steep slopes.
The vehicle has already made it to the cover of Time magazine as one of the best inventions of the year (2002) and has found loyal patrons in celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, James Cameron, David Beckham and Brad Pitt to name a few. Trikke was launched in India last week and was an instant hit among riders both due to its novelty and convenience. Nilanjana Ray, a marketing executive, who took a test drive, says, “The electric Trikke goes up to a speed 80 kmph which gives a cool adrenalin rush. The ergonomics is such that one cannot fall — all you have to do is hit the gear. However, the manual version is difficult to master because the workings entirely depend on how you use your body to manoeuvre.”
Auto expert Manav Arya, says, “It makes a lot more sense than segway — it’s more compact, cheap and comfortable. It’s suited for Indian metros, barring a few pot-holed stretches. And it attracts a lot more attention than a superbike on the road. It’s the most fun I have had just running around and doing chores. Trikke perfectly fits into an active lifestyle.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
