Rishi Sippy and Arjun Ajjampur will be a part of the Electronic Culture event
Youngsters across the country are making way for the Electronic Culture event starting July 27. Forty musical acts perform at eight cities in the country starting in Bengaluru on that day. DJs and music enthusiasts are looking forward to this event.
Rishi Sippy, a DJ and producer who is currently working on his own production, says, “This is a new concept. It takes local DJs to different cities. I am looking forward to sharing my underground sounds with the audience. It is exciting to play to a new crowd because we are always looking for a new audience. I look at this as an exchange programme that is good for upcoming DJs.”
Since the past year- and-a-half, the music culture is changing in the city. Sam Abraham, a producer, DJ and audio engineer says, “Many are connecting with EDM music and DJs. People compliment us for our music.” Sam believes that playing to a crowd is about spreading energies and love.
He adds, “The energy you bring in, live remixing, mash ups amongst everything else, changes the scene and the tempo of the sound that is important to a set. DJs are adding more elements to the existing tracks. Software now allows us to play a song on loop and you can change it in three seconds.”
Electronic Culture is an amalgamation of dance and music. It’s about how India as a country grows alongside electronic dance music. It is important to be updated about various genres of music in the EDM sector. DJs turned producers and releasing music under different labels worldwide. Ritesh Gonsalves, an organiser says, “This is inspired by the idea of over commercialisation of music. The reason being good quality music remains buried and people make it a habit of listening only to the music they know. A good reason for clubbing would be to listen to something fresh and unheard.” They are bringing artistes from Mumbai next.
Many look at this as a platform for experienced and upcoming artistes to bond. Arjun Ajjampur, a producer and DJ says, “This is a good stage for new artistes and the older, more experienced ones to get together and bond over the console. I play tech and minimal house.”
