What with a host of renowned international acts taking centrestage, the crowning glory has to be Guns ‘N Roses. No, we’re not talking about only the band, but an eminent member who is known for his long locks and supreme guitar skills. Yes, Slash, the former G’nR guitarist is set to perform in India, and fans are going crazy, to say the least!

It probably doesn’t get better than this for India. The past year has seen some of the biggest acts ever. Mooz Entertainment, that brought down American thrash metal band Korn, confirmed that Guns ‘N Roses will be playing in Bengaluru on December 7. Architect Aritra Mukherjee says, “G’nR is not the same without Slash!” And no sooner than he said that came the news that Slash is performing in India in February. He will play in Chandigarh, New Delhi and Bengaluru. Though the venues are yet to be confirmed, the excitement is palpable. “After all the rumours about a G’nR tour in India, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read that Slash will play in India. It’s a jackpot for our country,” says Ratheesh Mathias, a guitarist.
Fans are flocking from other cities and keeping themselves free for the concert. Aarti Rajan and her boyfriend are driving down to Bengaluru from Chennai to watch the performance. “I am a huge fan of Slash and this is one concert that I have been waiting for. My favourite songs are his solos Apocalyptic Love and all that he played for when he was with Guns ‘N Roses.”
Though Slash didn’t play for G’nR for too long, it remains his claim to fame till date and he has been hailed as one of the greatest guitarists of all time. “The riff of Sweet Child of Mine is one of the best ever! I can’t wait to see what he has in store for India. There is definitely a huge fan base for him and his former band,” says Roopa S, an accounts executive and singer.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
