Where can you eat the unhealthiest pasta?

If you’re looking to pig-out on some high-calorie delights, the Cheesecake Factory in the US is the way to go. No stranger to unhealthy foods with their cheesecakes, this year they’ve gone a step further by introducing the Bistro shrimp pasta their menu.

This pasta dish will not only have you loosening your jeans-buttons, but it could also eventually give you a coronary!
“Crispy battered shrimp, fresh mushrooms, tomato and arugula tossed with spaghettini and a basil-garlic-lemon cream sauce.” Nothing about that sounds the least bit extreme. But don’t go by its unassuming description. Topping the list of extreme foods for the year 2013 and at over 3,000 calories, which is our required calorie intake for a day-and-a-half, the pasta is loaded with butter and cream cheese and priced at $17.95. That’s not all! The Cheesecake Factory features not just one, but two lists. The second time around for its 2,610 calorie Crispy Chicken Costoletta.
Other offenders that feature in the standings include a 1,980-calorie deep-dish cheese macaroni, a 1,770-calorie double cheese burger and an 1,820 calorie chocolate cake.
For the last six years, the ‘Xtreme eating’ list has been brought out by a consumer action group — Centre for Science in the Public Interest in their annual newsletter. And it includes foods that are rich in calories, saturated fats, sugar and/or sodium; with the list of winners often being called ‘food porn’. And if their findings are anything to go by, then we’re all in for a mighty fat future with more clogged arteries than a city during rush hour.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
