Started in Paris, Lecoanet Hemant is a Haute Couture house comprising designs by Franco-Indian duo Didier Lecoanet and Hemant Sagar. The designer duo will be a part of “Bonjour India”, a festival of cultural events that will take place across 15 cities in the country.

Organised by Embassy of France in India and The Institut Français en Inde, in association with the Alliance Française India network and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), the festival is all set for it’s second edition (the first taking place in 2009-2010) from January to March, 2013.
The celebration will witness a host of cultural events — including art, cinema, education, art photography, and performing arts — in an attempt to strengthen the bond between the two countries. On Valentines Day at Jantar Mantar Park, Delhi, a grand show titled “Luminocity” will feature great displays of light. The unique fashion show of LED dresses by Lecoanet Hemant is a part of the grand event.
Lecoanet Hemant’s collections blend in the elegance of the East and allure of the West and it is this combination of tradition and modernism that got them the Golden Thimble (Le De d’Or) in 1994, the only honour for Haute Couture. In an attempt to extend their growing global clientele, the brand headed to Delhi in 2002. The brand has also come up with a line of “Ayurvedic clothing” made of organic cotton and infused with special herbs and oils. Apparently, these unique pieces are all about maintaining a sense of tranquility and improving one’s immune system.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
