Who is creating Stardust portraits?
Sergio Albiac is using scientific inspiration to create abstract works of art. The Barcelona-based artist uses photographs of men and women and a software programme that uses the Hubble Space Telescope’s images of galaxies.
What is created is a compiled conceptual work of genius. Aptly titled Stardust, the artist does raise thoughts on how art meets science and how technology can prove to be an inspiration for creative thinkers. Enthused by nucleosynthesis, or ‘the process of creation of new atomic nuclei from pre-existing matter that takes place at a cosmic scale’, Albiac began his work on these one-of-a-kind portraits in June this year, reports The Huffington Post.
“An artist has the potential to create infinite artworks but only some of them will see the light due to the constraints of time,” Albiac writes on his website. “What if we use technology to outsource the creation of art so more of these potential artworks are finally created?” All those who are interested in getting a starry portrait of themselves can actually send a message to the artist on his website. What a great way to get people interested — the artist is roping in enthusiasts faster than the speed of light!
