Who is Eckhart Tolle?
Eckhart Holle, who currently calls Canada his home, is best known across the globe for his books The Power of Now and its follow up A New Earth, both on the bestsellers list of New York Times. Born in Germany, this Cambridge graduate is also a spiritual guru whose teachings are accessible to those seeking guidance in the most advanced of formats — as a television programme that can be watched on tablets and phones!
But what does he teach? “Somebody, I don’t recall who, once said: ‘When you get there, there’s no there there’. This applies not only to location in space, but also to time: when you get to the future, you find yourself in the present moment. So the future never comes. Don’t let the thought of future (or past) obscure the preciousness of the present moment,” he says in one of his teachings on Eckhart Tolle TV.
These nuggets of wisdom that urge people to stop worrying about projections in their mind, that negate present experiences have struck a chord with thousands of people across the globe. His Facebook page has over 500,000 followers.
Eckhart’s is a story that says it is never too late to start your spiritual journey for it is at the age of 29 that he underwent an inner transformation. “The next few years were devoted to understanding, integrating and deepening that transformation, which marked the beginning of an intense inward journey. Later, he began to work in London with individuals and small groups as a counsellor and spiritual teacher,” his website informs of his work.
