Who is one of the best camouflage artists?
Abracadabra! And the artist blends with her art so perfectly that only a silhouette of a human form remains. On first sight, the camouflage artist Cecilia Paredes artwork looks like a wallpaper. Look a little closer and hidden within the vibrant motifs is the outline of the artist who blends herself into the backdrop by painting herself to match it. The artist from Peru uses her body as canvas to become a part of her own creation. Applauded world over for her innovative art, Cecilia has painted everything from animals, to plants and patterns on herself using body paint. She launched her most recent work ‘Landscapes’ on her website. It was an overnight hit with the highest number of clicks for any art site. A common floral backdrop links these vibrant assortment of portraits. Cecilia paints the same floral motifs as on the backdrop — mainly on her back and arms — then places herself strategically against the background to create a three dimensional illusion. The only part of her body that stands out and uncovered in these portraits is her hair. The mother of two from Philadelphia feels that creating a mirage-like illusion by disappearing into the backdrop surrounding her is the most exhilarating facet of her art. Some of the most popular portraits from Cecilia’s Landscape collection series are the abstract floral design where one can see the Peruvian artist donning a pleated skirt made out of the same wallpaper as the backdrop, her back painted with pink flowery prints while she is painted head to toe in large leaves and lilies.
