Who is taking Indian fashion places?
The United Nations recently nominated Indian designer, Ritu Kumar, to represent India at the first ‘World Fashion Week Preview’ being held in New York City on November 11, 2011. Top models from 50 countries will attend the UN
event and nominated designers will present one specially crafted couture garment at the World Fashion Week 2012. The garment will be donated to a charitable cause.
The garments that will be presented at the event can imaginably be spectacular works of art with an inestimable value showcasing the most inspirational and creative work of every designer in attendance. After the New York City extravaganza the garments will be taken on a world tour and will be exhibited in museums and fashion weeks all the way to the WFW NYC 2012 Inaugural Ceremony.
Similarly, among other Indian designers who have taken Indian fashion to an international platform are the husband and wife duo, Falguni and Shane Peacock, who made it to stardom with their debut at the 2004 Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week, they have dressed many international stars such as; Fergie, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Britney Spears and JLo. It is no wonder they have been grabbing headlines and will be a fixture at the New York event too. The distinctive style and the ethnic global appeal of Indian fashion have helped flourish the industry on an international scale. Indian designers such as Manish Arora who designed for Paco Rabanne, Rohit Bal, Tarun Tahiliani, Sabyasachi have secured an elite status in the global arena. Even jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali has worked her magic with on Beyonce and Paris Hilton. Well, with the younger Indian fashion designers like Masaba already venturing into international waters, looks like Indian fashion is only going to grow by leaps and bounds.
Where was the Cyclop shark found?
In Mexico, once a fictional character, recently became reality when an extremely rare fetal cyclops shark was caught in Mexico earlier this week. The Cyclop that was cutout from its mother’s womb was measured to be 22-inch long and has a distinctive single functioning eye, right at the center of its forehead — the hallmark of a innate condition known as Cyclopia, which though rare, occurs in various species, including humans. Sadly though, the fetal creature didn’t survive as it had already passed on by the time they cut out of its momma’s belly.
What it takes to look like Superman?
Most Superman fans have gone to the extent of wearing the red cape or donning the blue T-shirt with the red-yellow logo on it, but not this Filipino designer named — Herbert Chavez. This Superman fanatic went under the knife to surgically match his looks exactly like the man of steel. Chavez who earlier used to look like a regular Filipino, now looks like a replica of Clark Kent, post a series of procedures done on his face including on his chin, jaw-line, nose and also his thighs. He has also had surgery to lighten his skin tone to match the superhero’s complexion. “Superman is my idol, I want to look like him,” justifies the Filipino.
When will space tourism commence?
Like always, Richard Branson is again in the news for all the right reasons, the Virgin Airline proprietor recently announced that his Virgin Galactic project that will initiate the first space tourism facility is almost complete and that the facility should be up and running by the end of 2012. with the spaceport and the mother ship ready to go the Virgin Galactic is set to stage its commercial space tourism from spaceport America, which is situated at a remote patch of in southern new Mexico. With 450 tickets already pre-booked the company that is now in the midst of finalising its rocket tests and hopes that the sleek spacecraft will kickstart its commercial sub orbital flight soon after.

The hurricane Jova that Hit Mexico’s pacific coast is said to have killed six people. The Bengal tigress that delivered the healthy batch under such pressing circumstances is now recovering under the supervision of the Mexico zoo authorities.
