Wintry capital charms Amit
Be it the melodic Iktara from Wake up Sid, the energetic Dilli Dilli from No One Killed Jessica or more recently Navrai Maajhi from English Vinglish, his music is now a part of almost every music lover’s playlist.
We caught up with music composer Amit Trivedi, who was recently seen in the capital performing live at the Hard Rock Café.
This was Amit’s first performance in Delhi. “I love Delhi. Delhi winters are so charming and evoke the musical spirit in you. Delhi is the cultural capital of the country with a crowd that is so vibrant and welcoming.”
Apart from lending his soulful compositions for the MTV Coke Studio season 2, Amit is keeping busy with his upcoming films Kai Po Che, Lootera and Ghanchakkar.
“Working for films is exciting because I get to compose music in diverse languages,” says Amit. He has the experience of working with filmmakers of varied schools. He says, “I have been lucky enough to work with people from completely different schools of filmmaking. For example, Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar are two different ends of the spectrum and my music changes to fit the films they make.”
Most of the superhit tracks that Amit has produced come from the composer’s collaboration with lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya and film director Anurag Kashyap.
“Amitabh and I have been friends for the longest time. It is a delight to work with Anurag because he gives me complete freedom to experiment. He is open to all kinds of improvisations and that is something a composer needs most.”
