World opens up for DU
The Delhi University students can now hope for global placements from the coming academic session.
The Central Placement Cell of the university is in talks with several international companies for placements of the students. The first country that is going to be a part of this series is Japan and the placement will be done for Tokyo.
Deputy dean, DU Central Placement Cell Dr Gulshan Sahni said that a Japanese company is coming on Nov 29 for interviews. The company is offering a lucrative package, however, only the students who have got themselves registered with the DU placement cell will be able to appear for the interviews.
The Japanese company will come for the second round of placements, before that on November 8, there will be first round of placements for which two companies will come on campus for interviews.
Dr Sahni said that the Japanese company hiring Indian employees is planning to open over 100 retail outlets for which they want fresh employees. They will be given a three year training in Tokyo.
The company wants graduates, postgraduates or even those doing their doctorate for the job. The students of School of Open Learning and Non Collegiate Women’s Education Board can also get themselves registered with the placement cell.
Initially, the company will offer `1.5 lakhs per annum which will increase as per the company rules gradually. The company will provide facility for training, boarding and lodging too.
In the first round on November 8, the two companies that are coming for placements are: Preach for India Teaching and Jaipur Rugs that is offering placements across the country.
The Central Placement Cell was created in 2008 for creating an interface between the industry and the academia to provide a unique platform to the students. The industry gets a wide choice to select students.
