‘Would rather let work talk’
He is the quintessential Punjabi boy that any woman would gladly fall for. But Abhay Deol still prefers to underplay his cool dude image. For instance, he says, he’s eagerly awaiting the release of his next film Shanghai, but he can’t be bothered to go on a publicity overdrive. “You know, that’s a Deol trademark. My brothers are as laidback as I am. We’d rather let the work speak for us,” he says.
So if he doesn’t even like going out to promote his film, parties and social soirees are way out of the question. The quiet Deol, then? He prefers being called a man of few words. “I’m not the type who can go on and on about his versatility, because I believe that it’s something that’s best judged by the audience. I do socialise and party with my friends when the schedule permits me to. I prefer house parties with close friends,” he reveals.
While he’s not very forthcoming when discussing his professional life, things hardly improve when you quiz him on his personal life. He’s been dating girlfriend Preeti Desai for some time, but neither have shown any inclination towards marital bliss. So is there marriage on the cards? “I’ll get married the day Salman Khan decides to get married,” he adds.
