Yet another mature love story
The idiot box is undergoing a rather intellectual transformation of late. Mature love stories are the flavour of the season, and another one is along on its way. Colors is launching Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, which has Aakanksha Singh and Kunal Karan Kapoor playing two conflicting personalities locked in a complicated relationship.
The lead pair, meanwhile, play down the “mature revolution” sweeping our TV channels. “The viewers are becoming increasingly mature and need new stories that are simple, impactful and engaging,” says Aakanksha, adding that it wasn’t a criteria for her while agreeing to do the show. “For me, it was all about the story and the concept because it was unique and interesting.”
While she is playing a de-glam, intense role, Kunal’s character is a brash, carefree and freedom-loving brat. “I was super excited to play this role. It’s an unpredictable, khatta-meetha, unusual story with two completely contrasting characters,” Kunal says.
While these “mature” stories have been termed unsuitable for the small screen, Karan adds that the time is actually ripe for such shows to be broadcast on TV. “It’s extremely relatable. The show is telling its viewers that everything is possible. The manner in which the two characters tackle a delicate situation makes for an extremely interesting watch. We have taken a risk by doing the extraordinary, and we just hope the audience takes note of this effort,” he says.
