Young B’wood actors prove their worth
The young turks of Bollywood shone bright at the National Awards with actors such as Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana being recognised by the prestigious awards platform. While Ayushmann’s film Vicky Donor won the award for the Best Popular Film, Parineeti got a special jury mention for her impressive performance in Ishaqzaade.
An elated Parineeti said, “After winning so many awards for my debut film, I never thought that I would win an award for Ishaqzaade. And when I did, it was the biggest one in the country! That too for my first lead role. I just cannot believe it but it scares me and humbles me at the same time. But it will definitely make me work harder in future.”
Ayushmann said, “The National Award is the biggest honour a film or an artiste can get in our country. It’s extremely overwhelming and I’m proud to be a part of this project which has a rare combo of quirk and credibility.”
Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who won a Special Jury Mention for Gangs of Wasseypur, Talaash and Kahaani said, “I am on cloud nine. This goes to show how looks are not important in shaping one’s career. I am very happy with the way my career is shaping up.”
