He’s young, handsome and has a charm that can make you go weak in the knees. And the icing on the cake, he’s single.
Siddharth Poojari, the managing director of the Sukh Sagar group, has an astute brain and has kept the culinary levels high at his darshinis, restaurants and bars. He says, “Sukh Sagar was a family business, started by my dad Suresh Poojari in 1962 in Mumbai. He did not hand over the job to me on a platter. I learnt how he set up the business over 46 years. He was one of the first to serve everything from idli, dosa and pav bhaji to chole bhatura. After my university education from Buckingham, London, in 1999, I shuttled between Dubai, Mumbai and Bengaluru to get hands-on knowledge on our hotel operations.”
Confirming to being a die-hard foodie, Siddharth chuckles and says, “Living in London and travelling to various destinations across the world exposed me to a deep understanding of the hospitality industry. I was at an age when I wanted to have a good time, so I decided to extend my passion into work. I’m always in between my restaurants and get to meet interesting and good-looking people.”
Life is one big party for this savvy dude. “When I’m not here I’m checking out on restaurants abroad. Every year I visit new places which are known for their varied cuisine. This year I visited Ibiza, Capri and Venice. My all-time favourite cities are Vegas and New York. One travel tip that I would like to share is book a VIP table. The experience is always worth it. My favourite restaurant is the Alain Ducasse at Dorchester in London.”
Siddharth adds that he likes girls with a mix of debonair and the homely touch. He says, “She definitely has to be a foodie. My pre-Christmas and New Year plans include a trip to Hong Kong.”
A party animal, Siddharth loves to add novelty to his restaurants with special themed menus, set lunches, comedy nights and international DJs.
