Yuvi shares style secrets

Post the Indo-Pak thriller match on Sunday afternoon, in which the Indian cricket team managed to save face by a narrow margin victory, inspite of losing the series, the team is gearing up for the upcoming ODI series against England to start from January 11. Dressed to beat the chill, in a black suave jacket and a matching cap, cricketer Yuvraj Singh was in high spirits when we caught up with him.

“Thank God we managed to win at least one of the matches against Pakistan! The fans would have not spared us. We just saved ourselves from being hit,” joked Yuvraj, speaking at the launch of Pluggers, an Australian footwear brand that has tied up with Indian sports brand, Planet Fashion for distribution in India.
Talking about his current form, the cricketer put forth, “I know I have not been consistent and have only managed to play well in patches. However, for the upcoming series, I would like to play some great strokes and hit the balls.”
Diverting a little from cricket and talking about his fashion sense, he said, “I look for comfort in whatever I wear. For instance in footwear, I like anything that suits an attire and flip flops are something that depict a lot of fun, sun, surf and sand.”
After recovering from a major illness like cancer, does he feel blessed? “I am very thankful to God that he gave me a chance to lead a normal life again. I feel at peace and happy to play again and represent my country,” he smiles.
With selection issues plaguing the Indian team, especially after a senior player like Sehwag was dropped due to non-performance for the upcoming series, we ask his view regarding the same. “I really can’t comment on selection of the team,” he signs off.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
