‘State, BMC lack coordination’
Shiv Sena executive chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday visited chief minister Prithviraj Chavan at the Vidhan Bhavan to seek better coordination between the state government and the municipalities, especially the BMC,
to ensure faster completion of development projects.
He also discussed the issue of failing law and order situation in the state especially with reference to the recent dacoity in Raigad where the dacoits stole a Ganesh idol made of gold. “There is no semblance of governance. While a daylight robbery took place at a temple, the guardian minister who visited the place at Dive Agar in Raigad after the incicent did not speak about the detection of the case and about improving the situation,” said Mr Thackeray.
He added that attempts to rob temples have been made in the past as well, but have failed, as there were security guards. “At Dive Agar, however, there was no security,” Mr Thackeray said. He added that in Kashmir, when there was theft at the Hazarat Bal Dargah there was huge uproar, similarly the Sena would also take up the issue till the Ganesh idol is found and the criminals are brought to book.
While warning that the Sena was going to take up the issue of the hike in LPG, he also said that there is a need to have better coordination between the state and municipalities.
He said that projects such as Middle Vaitarna should have been taken up by the BMC but the state had taken a decision. “Time and again, I have spoken about the BMC having a lot of responsibilities, but no powers. We told the CM that with better coordination between the state, departments under them such as MMRDA, PWD and the BMC much work could be done,” said Mr Thackeray.
