12 held in mumbra with dangerous weapons, booked under ipc
The Mumbra police on Monday arrested 12 persons for possessing dangerous weapons, including a firearm from Mumbra. The police claimed that the accused were planning to commit a dacoity in a local area. Acting on a tip-off, the Mumbra police caught the persons in the evening from Mumbra Reti Bandar plot no.1. Some of the arrested accused have a prior criminal background at the Mumbra police station. The Mumbra police has found a country-made pistol, five choppers, a knife and red chilli powder. They have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act. They were produced in a magistrate’s court and remanded in police custody for further probe.

Onion prices rise in Nashik

Onion prices in Nashik market increased on Tuesday despite good arrivals. The highest price of `4,768 per quintal was recorded in Pimpalgaon Baswant APMC, followed by `4,750 per quintal in Satana APMC and `4,649 in Manmad APMC. In Lasalgaon APMC, the price was `4,641 per quintal, despite arrival of 6,000 quintals. The present onion is of Unhal variety, which can be stored for several months. The onion will continue till stocks last or fresh crop reaches the market by the end of September or October, sources said. This is an increase of an of average `200 per quintal. Arrival of onion was high in Pimpalgaon —7,615 quintals, Satana — 6,000 quintals, Niphad APMC — 1,528 quintals and Saikheda APMC — 1,350 quintals.
