18-yr-old’s murder cracked
The unit-4 of the crime branch cracked the murder of an 18-year-old man who was found in the Chembur area by a patrolling police van at around 4.30 am on Sunday. Two accused had decided to get even with the victim after being assaulted and manhandled by him on two different occasions. After thrashing him, they dumped him in an injured state, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim, Manigandan Kandaswami Arjun, was found in an unconscious state at the Hanuman Nagar Rahiwasi Singh near Suman Nagar at Chembur by a mobile police van. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Following a complaint filed by the victim’s brother Chandrashekhar, a case of murder was registered and was transferred to the Wadala TT police station.
While conducting a parallel probe, crime branch officers took Chandra-shekhar’s statement where he accused the two of murdering his brother and also provided their description.
Upon visiting the slums at Chikhal Nagar, Rahul Nagar and Samarth Nagar, the police learnt that the accused had fled to Ratnagiri where a team of officers was sent to nab them. The accused, Sameer Baban Kalap and Dinanath Triloki Kori, both residents of Chunabhatti were held and confessed to the crime.
