2 held in K’vali assault case
The Samta Nagar police in Kandivali (east) has arrested two minors and are on the lookout for another man who allegedly beat up a youngster for confronting them for allegedly whistling at his sister recently.
According to the Samta Nagar police, the incident took place at around 11 am on Saturday on the railway tracks in Poisar area between Kandivali and Borivali railway stations. The victim, Sachin Chowdhary (19), and the three accused are residents of Raju Bhai chawl in Kandivali (east), which is located near the railway tracks.
According to Sachin’s father Ajay Chowdhary (43), on September 10, the accused had whistled at his 21-year-old daughter while she was returning home. The minors had also acted as hooligans in the past, said Mr Ajay Chowdhary . The family had approached the Samta Nagar police station after the molestation took place, but the police had counseled and convinced the two families after which the matter got resolved and no case was registered.
On Saturday, Sachin was on his way back home from Mittal College, where he is pursuing his graduation degree. The same miscreants blocked his way along the railway tracks and assaulted him with iron rods. Even as Sachin’s father claims that there were around six youngsters who ambushed and beat him up, the Samta Nagar police claims otherwise, stating that there were only three youngsters who assaulted Sachin. Mr Ajay Chowdhary told The Asian Age that the police is watering down the issue as the accused work as volunteers for a political party.
Sachin has suffered injuries to his head, leg and stomach in the fight. On Saturday, Mr Ajay Chowdhary was made to run around from Samta Nagar police to the Borivali railway police before an FIR was registered.
“We have registered an FIR, held two minors and are on the look out for another accused,” said an official from the Samta Nagar police station.
