2 trackmen run over by local TRAIN

Two trackmen were run over by a local train at 3.15 pm near Vile Parle station on Saturday afternoon.
An Up Harbour local, heading towards CST from Andheri ran over both the trackmen, who were carrying out a painting job at the tracks.
Sheshrao Sawant (55), whose body was ripped apart in the accident, died on the spot. The second trackman Dheerendra (20) was severely hit on the head. GRP officers rushed him to Cooper Hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries.
Other trackmen, who were also working in the same area, have blamed the motorman for the accident. They alleged that he did not press the horn button. Sources informed that angry passengers pulled him out and manhandled him.
Ajay Singh, general secretary of the Western Railway Mazdoor Union said, “This is disgu-sting…there is no policy in place for social security of these workers. The railway board had set up a committee for the welfare of these workers, but it
could not be fully implemented for want of funds.”
A senior Western Railway official said, “Such accidents are really tragic, but our administration is
doing its best to control it.”

MNS DISRUPTS i-t dept exam, fir filed
Age correspondent
Mumbai, Feb. 16

The MNS on Saturday disrupted the Income-Tax (I-T) staff selection exam that was being conducted for the post of stenographers at the BMC’s T ward office in Mulund. The MNS workers were protesting non-representation of locals in the exam. Following the protest, the I-T department cancelled the examination. An FIR has been registered against “unknown” MNS activists at Mulund police station.
The I-T department had conducted an examination for stenographers on Saturday morning. The exam was held at the BMC office building. However, dozens of MNS activists led by Vibhag Pramukh Satyawan Dalvi gathered at the examination centre claiming that each and every candidate, who had appeared for the exam was non-Maharashtrian.
Party activists met the exam controller and asked him to call off the examination. The activists also demanded that priority must be given to local youth and advertisements should be released in Marathi newspapers to inform them about the exams. As a result, the I-T department cancelled the examination.
When contacted, ACP N.M. Madre said, “We have registered an FIR against some MNS activists for disruption of the exam. But no arrest have been made as there was no damage to property.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
