26-year-old alleges gangrape by 8 men

A 26-year-old mother of two on Tuesday approached the Santa Cruz police, alleging that she had been repeatedly raped by eight youngsters from her locality over the last six months. The victim is a resident of Shastri Nagar, Santa Cruz (west).
According to the Santa Cruz police, the complainant in her complaint has said that two of the accused barged into her residence while she was alone six months ago and raped her at knifepoint. They also allegedly filmed the act on their cellphones, and later used the video to blackmail her into sleeping with them as well as six of their friends. The accused, who also allegedly threatened to rape her child as well, are between 19 to 25 years of age.
“The exploitation allegedly went on till the victim’s husband caught her with one of the boys. He was furious and the complainant told him all that had been happening since the last six months, after which he approached us. We have detained some young men from the area, and are also looking for the other accused,” said an officer with the Santa Cruz police.
The complainant has further claimed that the boys would earlier regularly gather outside her house, and eve-tease her every day when she left the home to drop and pick up her two children from school. Her husband has a garments business in Thane and is out all day. The couple moved to Mumbai from Gujarat two years ago.
“We have registered a complaint against eight persons and have arrested two from amongst them,” said Vishwas Nangre-Patil, additional commissioner of police, west region.
