28th floor in adarsh was legal: Gaikwad
The Adarsh Commission on Monday began recording the evidence of Ratnakar Gaikwad, the ex-metropolitan commissioner of Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). While recording the evidence in the Commission, Mr Gaikwad stated that the MMRDA did not impose any penalty on Adarsh society for constructing the 28th floor, as it was legal.
One of the allegations against the Adarsh society is that the high-rise committee of the BMC had given permission to the society to construct up to the 27th floor, however, the society built an additional floor. For the additional floor, the society allegedly obtained permission from the MMRDA and did not go back to the high-rise committee.
However, in his deposition, Mr Gaikwad claimed that though the high-rise committee had initially approved only 27 floors, the committee had later extended the approval for the 28th floor as well.
The recording of Mr Gaikwad’s statement was incomplete on Monday and it will now resume on Wednesday.
