3 kill selves in separate cases in city

In three separate cases of suicides in the city on Thursday, a 40-year-old businessman from Mulund, a 22-year-old newly married woman from Dharavi and 20-year-old girl from Parel, killed themselves at their residences.
In Mulund, businessman Eknath Ragunath More was found hanging from the hook of the ceiling fan in the kitchen at around 7.30 am on Thursday. More lived at Mira Niketan building in Mulund (west). He is survived by his wife and two daughters, and police suspect a failing business behind the extreme step.
“He ran a logistics business, which involved clearing and forwarding of goods from ports. It had been running into losses and even the office at Masjid Bunder was shut due to which he was depressed,” said an officer from Mulund police station. The police believes More hanged himself on Wednesday night when his family was asleep.
In Dharavi, the 22-year-old woman reportedly set herself ablaze at her Indira Nagar residence on Thursday morning. She was rushed to Sion Hospital, but later succumbed to burn injuries.
Shaista Musafir hailed from Bihar and had married Mohammad (24) a year-and-a-half ago.
On Thursday morning, Mohammad, who had been unemployed for the past few days, was away from home. His Nephew Abu was at home with Shaista. Mohammed had previously worked as a salesman for a telecom company. At around 11.30 am, Shaista served Abu breakfast and went into her bedroom where she lit herself with a match after dousing herself in kerosene. Abu heard her cries and went to fetch his mother. She was taken to Sion Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. She had sustained 75 per cent burns on her body.
Twenty-year-old Sarita Gupta was found hanging in the attic floor of her hutment by her mother at around 3.15 pm when she returned home. Sarita had hung herself using a dupatta, which was tied on the roof.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
