4 held for killing boy over road rage
A 22-year-old was allegedly murdered by four men after an incident of road rage in Nalasopara (East) in rural Thane on Monday afternoon, the police said. All the accused have been arrested.
According to an official from the Nalasopara police, the road rage incident took place at around 12.30 pm on the Alkapuri Road near Alkapuri Chawl when the deceased, Mohammad Sadam Hussain Shaikh (22), a resident of the same chawl was roaming around on his bike in the area.
Two of the accused riding a Karizma bike tried to overtake Shaikh’s bike and in the process brushed past him. Due to the impact, the two accused fell off the bike. This resulted in a fight between the duo and Shaikh. The two accused then ran away from the spot only to come back with two more persons.
At around 1 pm, they spotted Shaikh standing in the balcony of his uncle, Mohammad Chand Shaikh’s construction office in Zakir Apartment at Alkapuri Chawl.
They barged into his residence and attacked him with a chopper and bare hands. By the time local residents overpowered the accused they had grievously injured Shaikh. Shaikh died during treatment in a nearby hospital.
The police has arrested the four accused. They have been identified as Tausif Iqbal Memon, Nasim Khan, Nadif Memon and Harif Memon. They are in the age group of 20-25 and all of them are residents of Samelpada slum.
