4 held for stealing shop
The Nirmal Nagar police on Tuesday recovered all the valuables that were burgled from an electronics shop in their jurisdiction last month. Four men, with prior criminal record, have been arrested and stolen booty worth `4.25 lakh has been recovered from them.
According to the Nirmal Nagar police, the incident had taken place early morning on April 21, when the four accused broke into an electronics shop located in Santosh Nagar on Service Road in Santa Cruz (east).
As a preventive measure, the owner Santosh Sawant, a technician by profession, had installed a good quality CCTV camera inside his shop that captured the faces of the accused.
They have been identified as Muzaffar Shaikh (23), Amir Shaikh (21), Mohammad Sayyad (22) and Sadam Khan (22). They decamped with electronic items like cameras, LCD projectors and recorders.

Sawant also provided them with a video CD of the footage. The police circulated copies of the CD
to see if detection teams from other police stations knew the accused seen in the footage.
“The accused turned out to be on the crime record of Jogeshwari police station in the western suburbs. The four were traced and arrested last Saturday. We made full recovery on Tuesday. Had it been gold they would have easily sold it in a day’s time to jewellers,” said inspector (crime), Balwant Deshmukh of Nirmal Nagar police station.
