59 staffers moved to exam dept
The examination section of the Mumbai University has borrowed 59 permanent staff members from other departments in a bid to ensure its own effective functioning. The move, however, hasn’t gone down too well with those who haven’t been shifted. “Our departments will collapse with so many of our important section heads being requisitioned to the examination section,” said an official of the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL).
However, newly appointed Controller of Examination Deepak Wasave said the other departments had nothing to worry about, as they would be getting replacements as soon as possible. He said, “In light of the recent fiascos, the committees set up by the university had suggested in their reports that the examination section being a highly sensitive department, should only have permanent staff and hence the move.”
In March and April this year, the university had been rocked with very several scandals ranging from paper leaks and wrongful allocation of question papers to seating arrangements for students.
