76-yr-old found dead in flat

The decomposed body of a lone 76-year-old retired Sanskrit lecturer was found in her flat in Bandra (west) on Sunday evening. Her neighbours got a pungent stench emanating from her flat after which they alerted the police control room. The Bandra police is investigating the case, but has ruled out foul play.
Namita Desai-Nadkarni, was found dead in her third floor flat at Bindiya Cooperative Housing Society on AKC Road.
According to an official, Nadkarni had been living in the society since 1983 and was married twice, but was living alone lately and had no children. Her pension was her only source of income. Her nephew Nachiket Sone has claimed the body, while her brother Vijay Kulkarni, who lives in the US, has been informed. Mr Sone lives nearby at the Perry Cross Road and was in touch with Nadkarni.
At around 6.10 pm, officials of the Bandra police, with the help of the fire brigade officials and in the presence of the society’s secretary Vijaya Joshi, broke into Nadkarni’s flat.
Her body was found lying in the bathroom, which was locked from inside. The police suspect that she may have slipped and fallen down while taking a bath. The officials rushed her body to Bhabha Hospital from where the body was sent to Cooper Hospital for an autopsy.
“There is no foul play nor has a robbery attempt been made. The autopsy report is awaited. We have registered an accidental death report,” said inspector, crime, S. Magdum of Bandra police station.
“The body is decomposed and the death may have taken place around four to five days ago. Her nephew told us that she suffered from a heart ailment and might have suffered a heart attack. If required, we will send some samples to the forensic lab to ascertain the cause of death,” added sub-inspector, Mahindra Dhorkar from Bandra police station.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
