Abducted girl found in Malad
A three-year-old girl, who was kidnapped from her Kandivali home on Wednesday evening, was found abandoned in Malad on the same night. The girl was taken to the hospital to check if there had been any abuse. The police has initiated inquiries into the case.
According to the Malwani police, they received a call at around 11.30 pm on Wednesday from residents of a colony near Evershine Nagar, Malad, saying that a little girl had been found abandoned.
The girl was brought to the police station where she was given milk and then taken to Bhagwati Hospital for a medical check-up. Meanwhile, a wireless alert was sent out to all police
stations, asking for any information about a two to three-year-old girl going missing.
“Around half-an-hour later, we were contacted by the Kandivali police, who told us that a three-year-old girl had gone missing from her residence at around 7.30 pm on Wednesday. Her mother had gone to the local market to buy vegetables, leaving her in the house, but had forgotten to latch the door,” said Abdul Rauf Sheikh, senior police inspector, Malwani police station. The girl’s parents were taken to Bhagwati Hospital, where they identified the girl as their daughter.
The Kandivali police subsequently registered a complaint of kidnapping. “We have ruled out that the girl herself wandered out as the three-year-old can barely make her way down two flights of stairs. We are inquiring with her neighbour's and other people in Ekta Nagar to check if they saw any suspicious persons,” said an officer.
