Alcoholic son rapes mother at knife-point
The Mankhurd police has arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly raping his own mother on Tuesday when the family was asleep at their residence. The accused, an autorickshaw driver, is addicted to alcohol and drugs and had also been earlier booked for petty crimes like robbery, theft and assault.
According to the police, the incident took place during the early hours of Tuesday between 4 and 5 am where the accused threatened his 49-year-old mother with a knife before forcing himself upon her. The accused came home late in the evening when the family had dinner and then went to bed after watching some television. The accused has three children from his wife who has left him. They live in the same house with his parents. “He went inside the room around 4.30 am where his mother slept, and began touching her inappropriately. She woke and was shocked to see him brandishing a knife. He put it on her neck and threatened to slit her throat if she resisted. He then raped her. The woman was very shocked and complained to us on Wednesday following which we picked him from the residence,” said an officer.
The woman was then taken for a medical test, which confirmed the rape having taken place. The accused was placed under arrest and charged with Section 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
The police added that the accused’s addiction to alcohol and drugs had made him sadistic and violent due to which his wife had left him. “He demanded unnatural sex because of which his wife had suffered severe physical pain. She finally left him around a year ago after being unable to bear the torture,” the officer added.
