Ambani letter: Probe on in full swing
Statements of more than half a dozen persons were recorded by the crime branch probing the alleged IM threat letter to RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani. However, no concrete leads have been found so far. The statements that were recorded included those of Mr Ambani’s security, other service providers, vendors, etc. The police also questioned vendors and other stall owners in the area surrounding Maker Chambers to check if they had seen any stranger in their locality last week.
The letter is handwritten in English on blank paper. The writer, who claims to be an IM operative, demanded release of its operative “Danish” and said that if he was not freed, the terror group would cause harm to Mr Ambani. It is not clear from the letter who this “Danish” is, but the police suspects the letter is referring to Mohammed Danish Ansari from Darbhanga in Bihar. Danish was arrested in January by NIA for sheltering the Bhatkal brothers before they reportedly escaped to Pakistan three years ago.
