Bal: Support due to social work
Jubilant over the Shiv Sena victory in the BMC election, Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Monday claimed that the people strongly supported his party because of his social work. Mr Thackeray said that the criticism levelled by the Opposition parties, as well as the media, did not affect voters because of the work done by his party in the BMC.
“We did not only dream of it, but implemented schemes of social welfare. Shiv Sena gave positions of power to common people and got the public welfare work done from them,” Mr Thackeray said in the editorial published in the Sena mouthpiece Saamana.
“I was not involved in land-grabbing sprees like the Congress leaders. Neither did I open sugar factories and ran them defunct, nor did I give hundreds of crores of rupees in aid to defunct factories. I did not open any shop of education institute. I did not take any licence in the spectrum scam,” said Mr Thackeray.
