BEST TO RUN EXTRA BUSES FOR CLASS 12 STUDENTS
Students of Class 12, who will be appearing for their boards during the All-India two-day strike, have been assured relief by the BEST, which has decided to run special buses to help students reach their exam centres.
Thirty four trade unions have decided to go on a two-day strike on February 20 and 21. To take stock of alternative arrangements made by the different government agencies, chief secretary Jayantkumar Banthia on Monday held a review meeting, which included officials from various departments.
“We need not worry about the exams of
Class 12 students because the BEST administration has decided to run special buses to help them reach their respective exam centres,” the chief secretary said, adding, “We have directed the administration to post one police
constable in every BEST bus for the safety of the people.”
He also said that to continue uninterrupted power supply in Mumbai, BEST has made alternative arrangements.
Further, Mr Banthia said that the government would ensure that the water supply system, transport and health facilities are not affected during the strike in the remaining parts of the state. All the departments have been directed to report about the situation every two hours during the strike.
