BEST TO RUN EXTRA BUSES FOR CLASS 12 STUDENTS

Students of Class 12, who will be appearing for their boards during the All-India two-day strike, have been assured relief by the BEST, which has decided to run special buses to help students reach their exam centres.
Thirty four trade unions have decided to go on a two-day strike on February 20 and 21. To take stock of alternative arrangements made by the different government agencies, chief secretary Jayantkumar Banthia on Monday held a review meeting, which included officials from various departments.
“We need not worry about the exams of
Class 12 students because the BEST administration has decided to run special buses to help them reach their respective exam centres,” the chief secretary said, adding, “We have directed the administration to post one police
constable in every BEST bus for the safety of the people.”
He also said that to continue uninterrupted power supply in Mumbai, BEST has made alternative arrangements.
Further, Mr Banthia said that the government would ensure that the water supply system, transport and health facilities are not affected during the strike in the remaining parts of the state. All the departments have been directed to report about the situation every two hours during the strike.

Mumbai, Feb. 18

Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi will address a party rally in Mumbai on March 17, first time after he was voted to power for the third successive time in the Assembly elections held last year. The rally, where party president Rajnath Singh will also be present, will be held at the Somaiya ground at Sion in Central Mumbai, party sources said.
Former BJP president, Nitin Gadkari and vice president Venkaiah Naidu will be the chief guests at the rally, which will be presided by BJP’s deputy leader in Lok Sabha, Gopinath Munde.
Mumbai BJP president Raj Purohit announced that party’s Mumbai unit in the function at Somaiya ground would felicitate Mr Modi. Mr Purohit further said that various organisations and business federations have also shown their interest in felicitating the Gujarat CM.
Sources said, the BJP is planning to use Modi as a role model for the youth and middle class in Mumbai, which has a sizable Gujarati population.
