Bizman flees to US after ‘rape’
The Malad police has registered a case of rape against a 29-year-old businessman for allegedly raping a yoga tutor on various instances under the pretext of marrying her. The accused, who contacted the victim on a matrimonial site, reportedly fled to the United States recently.
According to the police, the victim in the case is a 26-year-old resident of a plush tower in Vasai who teaches yoga in an ashram. According to the complainant, accused Jaykailash Bacchani, a businessman from Ulhasnagar, contacted her on a well-known matrimonial site last year. They then started talking frequently over the phone and also began meeting up. The accused also used to meet the victim in the ashram where she works.
“In the complaint, the victim has claimed that Bachhani, on the pretext of marrying her, raped her on different instances between October 24, 2012 and June 19, 2012, at two places — the ashram and a hotel in Malad (west). However, in the last few months she observed some change in his behaviour and recently, she learnt that he fled to the US on July 1,” said an officer from the Malad police station on condition of anonymity.
After waiting some days for the accused to return, the victim last week approached the Malad police and registered an offence with them. PI Chandrakant Gurav of Malad police station confirmed, “We have booked Bachhani under Section 376 (Rape) of Indian Penal Code. He has fled to the US. We are investigating and trying to gather evidence in the case.”
