BMC to fund construction of four Fobs
Commuters on the Harbour Line will soon get some respite, as the BMC has decided to fund the construction of four foot overbridges (FOBs), which will be built by the Central Railway.
According to civic officials, the CR will soon undertake the construction of FOBs between Mankhurd and Govandi railway stations. These bridges will be built at the Vashi end of Mankhurd railway station, near Lallubhai Compound, Mankhurd, at Tata Nagar to Kumud Vidyamandir, Deonar and at Govandi station near Ankur Cinema.
“The CR authorities have demanded Rs 6.26 lakh for the preparation of plans for these FOBs. Accordingly, the civic body has deposited the amount. Following this, the railway authorities have submitted the general arrangement drawing (GAD), which has been approved by the civic chief engineer (roads and bridges), and sent to the CR for further necessary action,” said a senior official from the roads and bridges department.
As per the CR’s estimates, the BMC has paid Rs 2.66 lakh for the preparation of plans for the FOB at Mankhurd railway station, Rs 1.76 lakh for the FOB near Lallubhai Compound, Mankhurd and Rs 1.84 lakh for the FOB at Govandi station near Ankur Cinema.
