Bmc plans to blacklist contractor

Furious over the delay in the construction of the pumping stations at Lovegrove and Cleveland, the BMC is planning to blacklist and de-register the contractor from its services which would mean that the latter would not be able to participate in any of the BMC projects.
Civic standing committee chairman Rahul Shewale said, “Despite several notices in the past, both the pumping station works have failed to progress. Hence, we are planning to de-register the contractor. We will also foreclose the work at Cleveland bunder and re-tender it. He will have to finish the work at Lovegrove, but no other assignment will be given to him in future.”
The BMC has allotted construction works of both the pumping stations located in Worli to M/s Unity — M & PWPK Consortium. The works, which began in 2011, were expected to be completed before the monsoon this year.
“However, 35 per cent of the work on the Lovegrove pumping station has been completed while at Cleveland, only 5 per cent of the work was done,” said Mr Shewale.
