BMC sends notice to MNS

The BMC has sent a notice to the MNS party office at Dadar over an allegedly illegal construction. The BMC has given the party a seven-day pe-riod to reply to its notice.
According to civic officials, the notice has been sent by the G-North ward office for constructing an unauthorised mezzanine floor in the office of the MNS Shakha no. 185, located near the Jakhadevi Chowk, Dadar.
Sharad Ughade, a G-North ward officer, said, “We have issued a notice for what seems to be construction of an illegal mezzanine floor in the party office. We have told them to submit necessary documents within seven days, otherwise action will be taken against the illegal construction.”
On August 1, Rajesh Rathod, a junior engineer of the G-North ward was allegedly thrashed by MNS nominated corporator Girish Dhanorkar and his supporters for not answering a phone call.

PHONE FIRM, DEALER TO PAY COMPENSATION
Thane: The Thane District Consumer Redressel Forum (TDCRF) has directed a cellphone manufacturing company and dealer to pay `18,900 for selling defective cellphones to a man residing in the district.
President of the forum Umesh Jawalikar and member N.D. Kadam had on Tuesday directed the cellphone manufacturer Meridian Mobile Pvt Ltd (UK) and the dealer Big Bazaar to pay compensation of `18,900 to the complainant, who had bought the cellphone at `8,900 that stopped functioning. The case relates to one Ravindra Raghuvanshi, a resident of Mira Road, who bought a Fly cellphone handset from Big Bazaar in September 2008. According to the complainant, within a couple of weeks, the cellphone started having problems and was sent to the company’s authorised service centre for repairs, which was returned to him after repairs. However, in December 2008 the cellphone again developed problems and stopped functioning, after which it was once again given to the service station.
