Bodies found in Dahisar, Aarey
Two bodies, one of a 22-year-old boy and the other of an unidentified woman of around 25 years of age was found in the Dahisar and Aarey Colony areas, respectively, on Sunday. While the body of Usman Rafiuddin Shaikh, who was missing since Saturday, was found floating in the Ketakipada pond in Dahisar, the half-decomposed body of the woman was found at Helipad Road in the Film City area of Aarey colony.
The bodies have been sent to Bhagwati Hospital for post-mortem.
Shaikh had gone for a picnic with his friends on Saturday and the Dahisar police have registered an accidental death report. A student of RK College in Malad, Shaikh was a resident of Shantaram Talao in the Kurar area of Malad east. He left home around 2 pm on Saturday for the picnic at Ketakipada with four friends and informed his parents about the same. Around 4.30 pm, he headed to the bushes near the pond to relieve himself . When he failed to return, his friends informed his parents who filed a missing person’s complaint on Saturday evening. Shaikh’s body was found floating in the Ketakipada pond by locals on Sunday morning, who informed the police control room. “There were no injury marks on the body and it seems he must have slipped and fell in the pond while urinating. The post-mortem report will give a clearer picture,” said senior police inspector Ansar Pirajde of Dahisar police station.
In the second case, a security guard found the woman’s body at around 10 am, when he sensed a foul smell emanating from the Helipad Road area. “The legs and face were decomposed. She was wearing a green salwar kameez, her wrist watch and three finger rings were intact,” said Uttam More, senior inspector from Aarey police station.
