With brickbats & bouquets, DCM trends on Twitter
Following his resignation as Maharashtra deputy chief minister on Tuesday, Ajit Pawar was soon trending on Twitter on the fourth position in Mumbai and second in India.
Twitterverse was by and large unkind to Mr Ajit Pawar, but a handful also rooted for him, citing his resignation as an act of courage and willingness to come under scrutiny.
Many did not shy away from dragging Mr Ajit Pawar’s uncle, NCP president and Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar into the controversy.
While Mr Ajit Pawar’s resignation set tongues wagging, various sections clamoured to take credit for his resignation.
India Against Corruption (IAC) member and activist Mayank Gandhi tweeted, “Ajit Pawar resigns. This is why we left our normal lives to fight against the crooks. Feel vindicated. Congrats IAC!!!”
Twitter was also abuzz with tweets targeting Mr Sharad Pawar, given the family ties between both the Pawars. A twitter user tweeted, “Guess Sharad Pawar forgot to teach Ajit Pawar how to have the cake and eat it too.” While another took a dig at both the leaders saying, “What did Sharad Pawar tell Ajit Pawar after his resignation “’Tumse Na Ho Paayega Bitwa’”.
