Brother murders sister, hangs self
A college student committed suicide while his sister was found dead with her throat cut in their house in Nagarkhane area of Jamner town of the Jalgaon district between Sunday night and Monday morning. The family discovered the bodies and a complaint was registered by their father Rajendra Ramdas Bare (50) on Monday.
The police said that that the body of Vivek Rajendra Bare (21) was found hanging in the house, while
his sister Bhagyashri (23) was found lying on the ground with her throat slit. Both the deceased were studying in a college in Jamner. The police has registered cases and are investigating further.
According to the police, the deaths were discovered when the mother called them out for breakfast in the morning. When she received no reply, she knocked the door and tried to open it but was unable to do so. She then, along with her husband, broke it down.
The police said that Vivek slit his sister Bhagyashri’s throat, the reason for which is not clear, and then hung himself, apparently out of remorse. Bhagyashri was an M. Pharma student in Jamner. Her parents had recently begun preliminary talks with a prospective groom for her marriage, but she wanted to pursue further education.

‘NCP stand on FDI political’
Age correspondent
mumbai, dec. 17
CM Prithviraj Chavan on Monday said that NCP’s opposition to multi-brand foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail in Maharashtra was politically motivated. The CM said that the FDI was necessary to protect India’s economy from global meltdown.
“I have spoken to NCP chief Sharad Pawar and he told me that his party’s stand on the FDI is very clear. They supported the issue in the Parliament,” the CM said. However, the state NCP has asked the CM not to take any decision regarding implementation of multi-brand FDI in retail in the state without consulting it, even though the party voted in favour of the move in the Lok Sabha.
A letter signed by NCP state president Madhukar Pichad was delivered to Mr Chavan by former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar on December 4. “There are Mathadi labour unions, market committees and we have to ensure that their interests are not harmed while implementing FDI in retail,” Mr Pichad had said.
Referring to state NCP’s objection to FDI in Maharashtra, Mr Chavan added, “FDI up to 49 per cent in multi-brand retail is already allowed. The question was whether to allow ownership of the business to multinational companies.”
