Two motorists were killed and another suffered injuries on Tuesday afternoon after a tyre of their car burst and it turned turtle on a bridge in Malkapur near Karad city in the Satara district. According to the Karad city police, the incident took place at around 2.30 pm on the Dheberadi bridge in Malkapur. The three men were coming from Bengaluru and were on their way to Pune.
“During investigation, we found that their car’s tyres were of poor quality. One of the tyres burst and the speeding car’s driver lost control over the wheels. The right side of the car hit the divider and after skidding for few metres it turned turtle killing both of them on the spot,” said investigating official, assistant inspector A.K Thakur of Karad city police station. The three men were rushed to the nearby Krushna Hospital, but two of them were declared dead due to grievous head injures, while the third person is said to be in a stable condition. The police has ruled out involvement of a second vehicle in the accident. “We are waiting for the third person to gain consciousness, after which we will record his statements,” added Mr Thakur.
