Bus victims in state of shock
Victims involved in the double-decker BEST bus accident said they were completely dazed for the first few minutes when the bus overturned, but managed to extricate themselves from the wreckage.
Around 15 victims are being treated at city hospitals. A total of 17 victims with superficial injuries were immediately discharged after being treated.
Israr Khan (40) said that the BEST personnel themselves put him into an autorickhaw when he managed to climb out. “Fire brigade officials were helping with the rescue too,” he said.
Pravin Khande (30), who escaped with minor injuries, said he could not register anything for the first few minutes after the bus suddenly tilted. “I feel sorry for those who died, it must have been horrific,” he said.
Dayashankar Singh (25) also escaped with minor injuries. “I am lucky to be lightly injured. Some of the other co-passengers have grievous injuries,” he said. While Nikita Gaduye too escaped with minor injuries, her friend she was travelling with has a fractured leg. “She has been taken to a private hospital,” Ms Gaduye said.
