Cabbie kills self, blames taxi firm

The police on Tuesday registered an abetment to suicide case against a private taxi company after a taxi driver blamed them in his suicide note.
According to the Colaba police, Veerpal Singh (70), a taxi driver originally from Punjab, jumped to death from the fifth floor of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YCMA) hostel on Tuesday.
Singh left behind a suicide note saying that he had sold his taxi permit to the Meru Cab company a month ago for Rs 2 lakhs and had been trying to get that money back ever since.
However, repeated attempts to get the company to pay him the money had failed, due to which he was depressed. Singh was a divorcee and had been living alone at the YMCA hostel for the last 30 years.
“A complaint of abetment to suicide has been registered against the Meru Cab company. However, no arrests have been made in the case yet. Further inquiries are on,” said A. K. Ingle, senior police inspector, Colaba police station.
Meanwhile, a Meru spo-kesperson said that the company had not been contacted by the police as yet and did not know all the facts. However, as a responsible company, it would take proper action, the spokesperson added.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
