CBI files progress report in Adarsh
The CBI filed its progress report about investigations in the Adarsh society scam case before the metropolitan magistrate court last week. Acting on the complaint filed by activist Abdul Malik Chaudhary, who had pleaded the court to direct the CBI to register and initiate a criminal case in the Adarsh society scam, the court in December 2012 had asked the agency to file the progress report.
The one-page report maintained that presently, as per the directions of the Bombay high court, the agency is focusing on the benami transactions in the Adarsh society matter. Accordingly, the CBI will file its report before the special appointed CBI court.
Advocate Ashish Giri, the counsel for the complainant in the case said, “The report filed by the CBI is a very basic report and doesn’t give a clear view about the investigation. Our complaint before the court was that almost 60 people who are involved in the scam (including the politicians, bureaucrats, society members and others who aided the accused to get hold of the government land), should be tried for their criminal conduct and a criminal case should be initiated against them. However, the agency comes up with a one-page report. In fact, when I went to the CBI office to submit the summons, the attitude showed by the senior CBI officer K. Babu clearly showed that the even the central agency is supporting the wrongful methods of the politicians. I feel that even they might be hand-in-glove with the accused.”
Mr Chaudhary had approached the metropolitan magistrate court in October 2012, and had filed a private complaint against all the accused involved in the case.
