COBRA, SOG arrest Naxal in joint operation
The COBRA commandoes, in a joint operation with the special operations group, arrested a 22-year-old Naxal who has several cases against him across three districts in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The police said that they are now interrogating him to find out details about Naxal hideouts and his arrest is significant in the wake of increase in Naxal violence in these states.
“Shyam Saai Naitaam became a platoon dalam member in 2008 and before that was a member of Kurkheda, Khobramenda and Korchi dalams,” said assistant inspector Santosh Ghatekar.
According to Mr Ghatekar, in 2009, Chaitu had set the gram panchayat’s office in Purada village in Ramgad, Gadchiroli on fire. “In 2010, Chaitu had participated in the Salkesa firing case and had set ablaze several vehicles in Vasi village in Chhattisgarh,” Mr Ghatekar said.
“Since he has been involved in both the states and has traveled extensively, he will be able to tell us more about his dalam and the operations that they have been planning since some time,” said a source.
