‘Cong sided with Sena in BNMC elections’
The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday accused the Congress of discreetly helping the Shiv Sena and other such “communal” parties. The allegation was made in the wake of the deputy mayor elections for the Bhiwandi-Nizampura Municipal Corporation (BNMC) held last week.
Party spokesperson of the state SP unit Abdul Qadir Chaudhary, alleged that the Congress councillors openly voted for Shiv Sena candidate Manoj Katekar, helping him win the elections, thus exposing the “real face” of the Congress.
Talking to reporters, Mr Chaudhary said that the SP had a stronghold in the BNMC. “This time, we have succeeded in getting 16 seats in the 90-member corporation again. SP candidate Rizwan Bubera was about to win the deputy mayor elections held on July 24, but all 24 Congress corporators openly voted for Mr Katekar, making him the winner,” he said.
“Congress, which is a so-called secular party only pretends to fight with the communal forces. By siding with the Sena, the party showed its true face.,” Mr Chaudhary alleged. He also accused the Congress of frightening minorities in the name of communal forces only to get votes.
Mr Chaudhary also complained of negligence towards the Urdu language by the school education department. “Urdu textbooks of Class 10 and 12 have more than 800 mistakes of different types. A delegation of Urdu teachers on minister Rajendra Darda and the concerned officials, but no action was taken to replace those textbooks,” he said.
