Consortium signs `150cr PPP WITH MAHA government

In the largest public private partnership (PPP) with the government of Maharashtra, a consortium of private companies has signed a PPP of `150 crore with the government of Maharashtra, and of `100 crore with the government of Punjab, to change the face of diagnostic care in the states.
The PPP agreement with the state is the largest in terms of scale, and includes the installation of four units of 64 slice CT scanners, 13 units of advance 16 slice CT scanners, 8 units of cutting edge 1.5T Magnetic Resonance Imaging Systems, 22 high end digital radiography systems, 39 colour Doppler’s and 39 analogue x-ray units.
These advanced imaging systems are aimed at providing early and accurate diagnosis on a 24/7 basis in the clinical specialty areas of neurology, cardiology, vascular imaging, emergency/trauma, oncology, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics and gastroenterology.
In addition to this, women’s health is given a special boost with the inclusion of 20 screening mammography units for early breast cancer detection.
It will operate on a 24/7-hour basis and provide services at government recommended rate cards for the benefit of the broader population.

MALEGAON ON HIGH ALERT FOR Shab-e-Barat

Security has been beefed up at Malegaon town in the Nashik district for the ensuing Shab-e-Barat or night of forgiveness, livelihood, faith and beneficence, which is obse-rved by the Muslim community.
The security cordon includes guards and volunteers and also a novel awareness drive. Around 40 senior police officials will oversee over 1,000 policepersons, including the SRPF, riot-control specialists and 2,200 volunteers.
Speaking to The Asian Age, deputy superintendent of police, Yogesh Chavan said that 400 volunteers would maintain vigil in the Bada Kabrastan area and 800 others would guard Ayes-hanagar Kabrastan, while 100 volunteers each, will assist six police stations in the Malegaon town. CCTVs have been installed at key places and beggars have been prohibited.
In 2006, on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat, over 35 persons were killed in Malegaon, when serial blasts shook the town.
