Cop attacked for breaking up party
The Goregaon police arrested four men on Saturday for allegedly manhandling a police officer when he tried to make them shut down the loud music they were playing after the permissible time limit. The arrested accused were allegedly in an inebriated state when their revelry was disrupted during the early hours of Saturday.
Assistant inspector Mahesh Ingle was on duty at Goregaon police station late on Friday when the police control room informed him of a complaint about a ruckus at Motilal Nagar-I. The complaint said that some people were playing loud music and disturbing the peace of the locality. Mr Ingle went to the area to investigate and stop the music. He noticed that a group of four persons was having a private party and drinking while music blared from a stereo kept nearby.
When Mr Ingle asked them to turn off the music as it was beyond the stipulated time limit, the men got into a heated argument with him. The resulting altercation saw the inebriated men resort to pushing and shoving the officer. Realising that he was outnumbered, Mr Ingle then called for reinforcements from the police station.
“The four men identified as Badrinath Patel, (55), Khatur Patel, (25), Vishal Patel, (22) and Shailesh B, (21) were picked up and detained at the police station. They have all been booked under Sections 332 and 353 of the Indian Penal Code for assaulting
a public servant. Some of the detained accused are autorickshaw drivers by profession,” a police official from Goregaon police station said.
