Cops raid sonography centre

A sonography centre was raided while it was conducting sex-determination in Malegaon town of the Nashik district on Saturday.
The sting operation was led by Lek Ladki Abhiyan (An NGO fighting for the cause of the girl child) activists along with three state departments.
The sting operation was conducted on Shivmangal Sonography and Colour Doppler Centre owned by Dr Sarika Shivaji Deore. The entire Deore family comprising several doctors are allegedly absconding, sources said.
Speaking to The Asian Age, Advocate Varsha Deshpande of Lek Ladki Abhiyan said that she had received four complaints regarding sex determination being conducted by the centre in Malegaon.
Accordingly, the NGO sent one five months pregnant
activist for sex determination to the centre on Saturday and exposed the centre’s wrongdoing.
