Dejected builder shoots himself

Upset about a family dispute, a 39-year-old builder committed suicide by shooting himself with a licens ed revolver at his residence in the
Turbhe village late on Monday.
According to the police, the deceased Avinash Mhatre (39) owned Shree Developers with projects currently underway at Kamothe and Vashi. Avinash lived in Turbhe along with his wife, 12-year-old son and parents.
Citing the sequence of events, the police said that Mhatre consumed liquor and went to his bedroom and locked the door. “His family members heard a gunshot. They tried to enter but the door was locked. The family members then broke open the door and saw him lying in a pool of blood,” said Ashok Dudhe, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), zone I from the Navi Mumbai police.
The police said that Mhatre shot at his temple with his left hand. He was rushed to the municipal hospital in Vashi where he was declared dead before admission. The doctors alerted the police after which they reached the spot.
“His wife and brother have stated that he was upset because of family disputes. There were frequent verbal altercations between Mhatre and his wife. Theirs was an arranged marriage,” said Mr Dudhe.
There was no suicide note recovered from his possession and the police has ruled out anything suspicious behind the incident. Mhatre had started his construction firm three years ago and had many projects based in Navi Mumbai.
The police has also ruled out any financial constraints for being the reason for his extreme step.
“We don’t think that he was facing any financial problems as he had
bought two new cars two days ago,” added Mr Dudhe.
Meanwhile, Mhatre’s last rites were conducted on Tuesday. The APMC police has seized the revolver and a case of accidental death has been registered in this regard.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
